GO Rehab Rocks

The GO™ Rehab Program offers a sweeping new approach that is redefining the rehab experience. The results are clear: It makes rehab more efficient and effective—as well as more comfortable and convenient.

And there are numbers to back that up. UDSMR data confirms that the GO Rehab Program is in the top 5% nationwide for successful rehabs. That’s big news! UDSMR is an independent, not-for-profit organization affiliated with the University at Buffalo‚ State University of New York.

The whole point is to improve clinical outcomes and to enhance the resident experience—and GO is right on point. GO Program clients are overjoyed to have access to an attending physician 5 days a week, to a registered nurse 24/7, and to the Program’s cutting-edge equipment, like the Jintronix biofeedback system.

They all love the private and semi-private rooms, the smart TVs, Netflix, branded coffee, Chromebooks, and a full menu of healthy food choices. Most of all, they rave about the speedy recoveries, getting them back to their lives ASAP.

The GO Rehab Program is a win-win-win: Hospitals, medical personnel, and the clients themselves—everyone wins!

Nonprofit Skilled Nursing: Not for Profit, All for You

With lower hospitalization rates and more discharges home, not-for-profits like Northern Services are a positive choice for short-term rehab and long-term care. They
have a great nursing-staff-to-patient ratio and all profits after expenses are paid back into the facility—money spent on nursing staff, food, and other key quality-of-life
measures.

Nurses who work in nonprofit nursing homes are consistently satisfied with their jobs. A staff that’s less stressed out generally provides improved care. And content staff
members tend to remain longer at a facility. Low turnover rates mean that residents can bond with the nurses and other staff that provide their care.

Not only do nonprofit nursing homes have, on average, lower hospitalization rates, research also shows that they have fewer cases of pressure ulcers, and lower rates of
restraints. Patients appear to heal better in nonprofit nursing homes and are more likely to return to their own homes faster.

Meet Dr. Michael Robinson

Dr. Robinson is a leader in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation—a branch of medicine that aims to enhance and restore functional ability and quality of life to rehabbing patients. As a pain management specialist, he provides pain management guidance for therapists and med management. He is an extender for orthopedic surgeons and can provide onsite post-op care and communication with the surgeon, which minimizes patients’ need to leave the facility for appointments. In addition, he can review x-rays in house and convey updates on post-op progress in real time.

Triple board certified in physiatry, electrodiagnostic testing and pain medicine, Dr. Robinson is at the heart of the Northern Manor rehab team—providing key support to the facility’s outstanding record of successful outcomes. And you don’t have to leave the facility to see him: he comes to you—at Northern Manor.

You benefit from his expertise, his mastery of rehabilitation medicine, and from his accessibility. In short, in addition to good outcomes, Dr. Robinson also delivers peace of mind.

Dr. Robinson completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. He received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine and his bachelor’s degree from Clark University. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Academy of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine. Dr. Robinson is also a member of the medical team at Northeast Orthopedics and Sports Medicine.

Rockland County’s Most TransformativeVentilator Care

The most transformative vent care technology combined with a preeminent medical staff has improved the lives of all the patients who come to the Northern Manor units. Each unit is designed for patients who require ventilator care due to an injury, chronic disease or other respiratory complications.

Northern Manor has 30 years of experience in ventilator care, and our Chief Pulmonologist has more than 40. We achieve great outcomes as our respiratory experts provide customized care, successfully helping hundreds of patients regain their independence.

All of our patients on ventilators are closely monitored by physicians, respiratory therapists and skilled nurses trained in respiratory care. Patient monitoring 24-hours a day ensures the greatest possible comfort, as our highly skilled staff blends empathy with expertise to create unique goal-oriented care plans for each individual patient.

An expert team monitors patient progress, making daily adjustments to the plan, in order to create a real-time program to get patients stronger. Although some patients require the ventilator for the long-term, our units wean many off of vent care.

There’s much more to the unit than ventilators. Bilingual dietary specialists, ongoing family education and support, post-discharge assistance and follow-up, as well as comprehensive, personalized plans all reduce the risk of future complications.

Protecting our patients, residents and staff from COVID-19

From the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak, our facility has followed the guidelines and recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH). The safety of our residents, patients, staff and their families are our priority and we continue to take an abundance of precaution to protect them.

Our team is well-trained in the importance of proper handwashing and the use of alcohol-based sanitizer, and all are supplied with proper PPE. If they experience symptoms—such as fever or cough—they are instructed to stay home, and they must be cleared before returning to work.

Handwashing and hygiene posters are displayed throughout our facilities, and employee education and training continue based on the latest community and CDC guidelines. In addition, the COVID-19 vaccine is currently being administered throughout the Northern Services Group facilities to staff and residents alike.
