“Talking with family and friends has always been one of my greatest pleasures. But then I had the stroke, which robbed me of that singular joy. It took away my ability to speak; now I have aphasia—which means I have trouble speaking, but I can understand what people say.
The Northern Manor team made me a promise, if I worked hard, they ‘d work hard, too, to help me get my powers of speech back. Right away, the Recreation department set me up on Facetime, so I could see and communicate with my family. And the rehab team has been fantastic—cool and very supportive.
My family is really happy to see how strong I’m getting. Soon I’ll be receiving a device to help me speak. I can’t wait. I’ll be able to head home and start talking again. The first thing I’ll say is: Thank you, Northern Manor.”
